Outlook known issues in the October 2019 updates

Outlook Known issues in December 2024 updates

This happens to accounts that are configured in the iOS Mail app. Until you can install the Windows Update fix release, you can set a registry key that will cause Outlook to stop using the local Windows Search service. When this registry key is set, Outlook will use its own built-in search engine. The built-in search will display the message below to indicate it is not using the Windows Search service. To access the calendar shared with your Microsoft 365 for business account, you'll need to accept the invitation from Outlook on the web, iOS, or Android. If you've already clicked the Accept button in Outlook 2016, you won't be able to re-accept the invitation from another Outlook application.

Outlook Known issues in April 2023 updates

When you install Outlook, an Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) is also installed on your PC. The Inbox repair tool can resolve problems by scanning your Outlook data files, and Fix Outlook Not Opening After Windows Update repairing errors. To use the Inbox repair tool, exit Outlook, and then follow the steps in Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost). If your antivirus software includes integration with Outlook, you may experience performance issues. You can disable all Outlook integration within the antivirus software.

VBScript does not run or you receive malicious code warning when using a custom form for Outlook

If you typically use an Outlook.com account for email, this issue can occur if there are multiple aliases on the account and the 3rd party email address is the primary alias. This occurs because custom form script is now disabled by default. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to complete these steps. You can automatically repair your Office program files to resolve such problems as Outlook freezing or not responding. Outlook forwards meeting invitations to other attendees without anyone actually sending an update or forwarding an invite.

• This can be exploited by creating a file together with an OLE object in such a way to cause MAPI to load a DLL from a network share when the OLE object is activated.
• If the check box is cleared, the service or startup program doesn't run when you restart the computer.
• Currently, you can't use Outlook on Windows to edit calendars that are shared with your Outlook.com account, even if you've reconnected your Outlook.com account to Outlook.
• After updating Office, you may experience a brief flashing window every hour, which triggers the OfficeBackgroundHandlerRegistration task to start running.
• Outlook 2016 freezes when you try to preview an Excel file that's attached to an email.
• The folder may have been deleted or the server where the folder is stored may be unavailable.
• To edit a shared calendar, go online to your own Outlook.com calendar, open Calendar for Windows 10, or use a mobile device.

If you use the cloud-based Microsoft modern authentication troubleshooting 365 on a PC or Mac, the automated Support and Recovery Assistant tool can diagnose and fix many issues, including Microsoft Outlook not starting. You may have to contact your antivirus software vendor to determine how to configure the software to exclude any integration with Outlook or to exclude scanning in Outlook. If the problem doesn't occur after you restart Outlook, one of the add-ins is likely the cause of the problem. Restore the add-ins one at a time until the problem does occur to determine which add-in is causing the problem.
